Learning to Live: Learning to LoveThis educational program has brought enrichment to many relationships. It is a program that is especially helpful and healing for people who have experienced abusive relationships. It is difficult to have a satisfying and healthy relationship when there is, or has been, verbal, physical, psychological, emotional, economic or even silent abuse.When a child experiences trauma, and does not receive help to process the effects of this trauma, there will be on-going responses to daily events stimulated by the foot print left by the earlier experience. Unresolved trauma can result in what is called "arrested development." This means that a person is "stuck" at that phase of development where the trauma occurred. A person of any age can be functioning very successfully in their career or school, but when a problem occurs, or a "bump in the road of life," they will revert back to that age of development to address this problem. This may come out as uncontrolled anger or as helplessness and lack of motivation. This on-going cycle results in more pain and confusion. When relationships become stormy, or there is a pattern of "coming close" and then "running away", a past trauma can be part of the current "bump in the road" that is happening. If your relationships are "stormy", or don't seem to be as happy as they could be, this educational program will be helpful to you.
